Gumandev ancient Hanumanji temple built around 400 years back

Guman Dev

Route: Surat- Kamrej- Ankleshvar- turn toward Jhagadiya- Gumandev mandir on way 70 from surat

Guman dev is situated near Jhagadia at a distance of 17 km South-East from Bharuch. There is a very old temple of Lord Hanuman built around 400 years back.
Every year, a fair is organized on each Saturday of 'Shravan' month of Gujarati calender. In Shravan month, so many pilgrims come paddled as their belief and enjoy the fair. In the month of Shravan, people come to this temple walking from very far off homes as it is considered that Lord Rama forgives all sins of such people. There is a spiritual story behind the name "Gumandev" meaning "Lord with Pride". It so happened that the kind decided to build a main road connecting to Rajpipla which was under the rule of a king. The hanuman temple was in between the road and they tried a hell lot of things to remove the temple and shift it to some other place, but every time they tried to remove the temple and the idol of hanumanji, the size of idol would increase. Ultimately the sages in the valley approached the kind and pleaded him not to remove the temple as it would ruin his kingdom. The kind understood the same and he took the road in a zig zag manner so that the temple would not get disturbed. That is why the temple is known as Gumandev. There is a lot of people who visit this temple on Saturdays as it is considered as a auspicious day.
