Baijnath temple Lord Shiva & Goddess Parvati were married antiquity and historic importance

Baijnath is a small town on the banks of the Gomti River in the Bageshwar district of Uttarakhand, India. The place is most noted for its ancient temples. Baijnath Temple, located at a distance of 19 kms from Kausani, is one of the tourist attractions in Uttarakhand  

In Kumaon region, Baijnath is amongst the famous place for its remote antiquity and historic importance.

this temple is very old and located on the banks of Gomti river Lord Shiva,Ganesha,Parvati,Sun God idols worship here,the temple is now become heritage built between 9th to 12 century A.D. where it is believed that Lord Shiva & Goddess Parvati were married.

Built by the Katyuri kings there are ancient temples of Shiva, Ganesh, Parvati, Chandika, Kuber, Surya and Brahama. The Baijnath Temples dating back to the 12th and 13th century are constructed of stone. The temple complex exhibits the amazing architecture of the age. The main temple that houses the beautiful idol of Parvati is chiseled in black stone. According to Hindu mythology, Lord Shiva and Parvati were married at the confluence of River Gomati and Garur Ganga.
